Ok,
I know this sounds funny but I have two areas in my yard that I do not want grass to grow. I do not want to use round up. I want to stop the grass from growing and then put down some more sand and then maybe landscape it, but that will come later.

What can I use to kill the grass that is growing in these areas? You are probably going to ask the square footage, not sure. I think that each area is about 6 feet by 8 feet, maybe a little better. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Scalp it & if you can't scrape it all away, cover w/several layers of newspaper then mulch. Or maybe cover w/newpaper even if you CAN scrape it all away.

What kind of grass? Most grasses will smother out if you cover them with mulch, soil, or sand. You can shade most grasses out with black plastic. If you have full sun exposure, clear plastic, if it is held down at the edges, might cook the underlying grass and kill it.

If you have St Augustine, set up a play area where you want the grass to die. It does not handle a lot of traffic very well.
