Is there something special or different about the Live Oaks around Highland Park? Are they just your everyday Live Oaks that have been well maintained over the years? I live in Coppell and have "native" Cedar Elms, Post Oaks, Pecan and Red Cedars. Any reason a Live Oak won't do well on my site or should be avoided? I love the sprawling shape of those in HP.

Side Note: In my old house in Coppell I had professional plant a 4" caliper Live Oak, a 3" Bald Cypress and a 1" Pin Oak. A few years later a Red Oak popped up on its own. In less than four years it was as large as those I planted and after 8 years it is more than twice the size and absolutely beautiful. It's amazing how nature has a way of showing who's really boss.

Live Oaks in HP are obviously rich, the Live Oaks in Coppell are just trying to look rich.

Ba-da-bing!

Live oaks do well in all parts of north Texas. I think they're over-planted, but that's because most people like them.
