For the last several years, we have been in a "belt" of grasshopper damage. They killed all our fruit trees, 3 bearing peach, 2 young apples, and a whole row of large, mature plums, plus many of our shrubs, especially holly, jasamine, and roses. Our shade trees were damaged, but they survived. Now we have a new house on the same property in Navarro County near Corsicana and we are at a loss as to what to plant that might survive. We are in the middle of pasture land with no landscaping or trees. Garrett Juice, garlic pepper tea, DE, and combinations of these did no good at all. Our chickens were of very little help, and the size of the grasshoppers as well as the unbelieveable numbers of them overwhelmed them (and us!) Help!

Nolo Bait is what you need to put out when the grasshoppers are in the early stages of life. When they become adults, use a kaolin clay spray.
I did a search on the site for "grasshoppers":
http://www.dirtdoctor.com/radio.php?id=344
and
http://www.dirtdoctor.com/dallasnews.php?id=25:

"...use this 3 step program for the grasshoppers. 1. Nolo bait on the ground while the grasshoppers are small. 2. Encourage as many birds as you can with feeders and attractive plants. 3. Apply a particle film product. Mix kaolin clay at 1 quart per 2 gallons and add 1 tablespoon of liquid soap. Spray plant thoroughly to coat with the white material."

and 43 other results! Check it out:
