I was bouncing around the genealogy sites last night and found out that my last name, Crognale, in Italian, means Cornelian cherry tree. The tree is actually a genus of dogwood that produces edible fruit. So....., I was wondering if they would grow and produce fruit in Keller Texas.
Any ideas anyone? Howard?

I am also thinking of planting peaches and apples, possibly some citrus so any advice will be appreciated

Thanks,
Mike

Ranger and Monroe peaches would do well in Keller.

What's good in Denton? I see those satsuma trees, I see lemons, i see apple trees (with nothing on them at all)... what should I get if I want some shade and some fruit?

Satsuma and lemon can only be grown in containers in Denton (or anywhere it gets below freezing for very long. I have had a Satsuma tree for 12 years. It produces about 10 fruits a year. Grows very slow. I move it in the garage if it's going to freeze.

Peaches and plums are a safe bet in this part of the state. Pears supposedly do well, but I have had a very poor success rate with them. There are a couple of varieties of apples that do well also.

Can anyone list, or tell me where to find a list of which fruit tree varieties do well in Cooke County- far north Tx.

Here is a link to fruit, nut and berry recommendations for North Central Texas that might work for Cooke:
