I have no association with Howard Garret except that I admire his forward thinking and the organic alternative information that he and his associates provide.
That being said...if you purchase ONE book about gardening, plants or bugs get Howard's Texas Bug Book. You can identify so many of the bugs that you're writing about and learn how to combat them or what there natural preditor is. I use it almost daily since I grow a lot of herbs and veggies. It has taught me a lot, especially how to be patient and wait to see if a pest's natural enemy will show up.
The last time I used it was this weekend when I saw literally hundreds of the roundish back bugs with small red spots all around my peppers and potaotes. I got the book and identified them as the predacious(sp?) stink bug which are highly beneficial and eat roaches, and potato beetles. Good thing I didn't automatically reach for the DE or orange oil.
Just wanted to pass this along that the book has benefited me well and is worth every organic gardener's time.
