A bald cypress has been in my yard longer than I have been in my house. I think that it is between 15 and 20 years old. The base is approximately 24" in diameter. It has grown vigorously for the last 4 years. This is the first time that we have seen this problem occur.

The majority of the needles are browning except for the very top of the tree, which appears to be new growth. Is this tree dying or suffering from the heat we are getting after a very wet, mild June?

Any suggestions?

Howdy-

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question. I've been experiencing the same thing too, which leads me to believe it might be the wet weather. But that doesn't make any sense, because bald cypresses love wet weather.... How odd.
