I am having a hard time keeping my BlackFoot Daiseys alive. I know they are tempermental and don't like water and need to have good drainage but I still cannot keep them alive. They were planted in the fall of 2002 and each year I loss more plants. Is there anything I can do once the plants start showing signs of sress such as leaves turning brown? Any suggestions what plant I can replace with? All my other native plants are doing great.

Hey beerbasket. My wife and absolutely love these flowers. We live north of Austin on about 5 acres where there is mostly rock...lot's of rock and barely any soil except for where our house and yard is. They grow all over our place and never receive any attention since they grow wild. This year has been exceptional for wildflowers due to all of the rain we've received. I guess my question would be is the soil you planted them in too rich in organic material? The prettiest mounds we have growing are in decomposing limestone rock and you can barely get a handful of soil in these areas. The areas they grow have VERY good drainage. I hope this helps and good luck!

Hi Jeff, thanks for the feedback, You are probabaly correct about my bed being to rich organicially. I also like the flower when they are doing well, however I need to find another plant that will thrive in my bed and replace the ones that have died. Thanks again for the response.
