Interesting observation:

There is about a square yard patch of grass in my back yard that is the greenest, thickest, & softest burmuda I've seen this year in my front/back yard since I've gone organic last year. What's in the middle of this patch of grass, my ground bird feeder. I guess the burmuda grass is feeding on a years worth of decomposing bird seed...the bird food comprised of millet, sunflower seed, cracked corn. Also this spot has only been watered once this year besides the rain. No No No, I know what your thinking, its not the seed growing, because the burmuda is so thick the seed can't germinate.

I thought this was interesting...I'll have to experiment further with this.
Now I just need to find a supply of cheap bird seed & start grinding then apply to a section of grass in back yard.

What a great observation!

If you find a good home grinder, let me know. I bought some "calf mix" last year that has whole seeds in it. I started out growing oats this year!! I still have about 40 pounds left I need to grind. I understand Kitchen Aid mixers have a mill attachment you can get.

Anyway, I doubt if you can buy it and grind it any cheaper than you can buy it at the feed store. I get whole ground corn meal for $6.50 (yesterday's price) for 50 pounds. Full-O-Pep was the brand out of Cuero. But the idea of using many different seeds ground up together is excellent. The more different proteins you have, the better.
