There's a big hackberry tree in my backyard. The trunk is 2.5-3ft in diameter. I know it's considered a trash tree, but it is the only mature tree that I have, so I gotta work with it!

Last year, it was covered with galls (my Dad and I commented that you always seem to see them on hackberry trees) shortly after we purchased the house (early summer). I don't remember seeing them when we first saw the house in the Spring.

If I douse the tree with Garrett Juice (or something else that you might recommend), will that knock out the galls this year? If so, when and how should I apply the treatment (sprayer to the canopy, on the roots, etc)?

Or, is a tree covered in sickly, gall-encrusted leaves just one of the many charms of having a mature hackberry tree? I'm fairly new with most of this stuff, but my lady and I are really pushing maintain an organic yard.

Thanks for the help.

I'd do the 'sick tree treatmant'-look in the 'library' area of the home page.
We had a cedar elm on its last legs & did the sick tree tx several times over a period of a few months and its doing great. I'm a believer!

Appreciate the advice! I was leaning toward doing that after getting an email response from the big dogs.

I'll post how it works out (hopefully, no galls and lots of healthy looking leaves!).

Have a good one.
