I have some sort of contractor grade bermuda in the front yard. In several spots it looks like it is stressed. The runners are as loose as a womans hair in west texas. I have tried adding additional top soil for them to take root but really believe there is some other root cause.

I need a little more info.

How often and how much are you watering it?

How short/tall are you mowing it?

Is there any reason to think there might be something wrong with the soil in those places? Has there been a chemical usage, spill, sawdust from CCA lumber, or standing water in those places? Buried concrete or otherwise shallow soil?

After reading the forum for the last few days. I know you will tell me that I have been watering incorrectly. Its been getting about 20 mins/2-3 times a week depending on Mother Nature. I will work on that. My home sits on a crown, the front yard slopes away in one direction, while the back slopes the other. I'm thinking that deep watering is difficult.
I just started this year a organic lawn care. Dry molasses and corn gluten meal. This particular area did get damaged by chemicals that my wife insisted on to rid the yard of tha annual blue grass. I also think there maybe some compaction problems. The grass is very much shorter than the rest of the yard and the mower really never clips this area. You might say the growth is stunted. Overall, I am very pleased with the results just from this seasons organic applications. For the most part the grass has never looked greener or thicker.
