I recently planted a big 3.5 inch Aristocrat Pear Tree. I decided to plant it myself with the help of a few friends to save money. It has been about 2 weeks and I have a feeling I didn't make the whole wide enough. There is about a 2-3 inch space between the tree and ground. Should I widen it now or is it too late?

Just take a garden fork and loosen all the dirt around the rootball. This breaks up the slick sides you may have created digging the hole and will give the roots a place to grow into. The object is to avoid a "clay pot" situation where the roots circle in the hole. Put some compost on the top and mulch with cedar. Water when needed by hand for a year.
